We are excited to announce LeFleur’s Bluff State Park En Plein Air Painting Competition! The goal of our event

 is to hold an annual Central Mississippi plein air painting competition that will bring attention and 

sales to Mississippi artists and a unique outdoor experience in one of Mississippi’s beautiful parks. 

We invite you to apply to paint at the event and to invite friends and family to the park to enjoy this event.

LOCATION: LEFLEUR’S BLUFF STATE PARK, 3315 LAKELAND TERRACE, JACKSON, MS 39216.

The park is a public recreation area located on the banks of the Pearl River off Interstate 55. 

Home to a 50 acre lake, a 9-hole golf course, and the Mississippi Museum of Natural Science 

there are many scenic areas to be inspired by within the park grounds.

 

ARTIST REQUIREMENTS: MUST BE A MISSISSIPPI RESIDENT OVER 18, FIRST 50 ARTISTS TO APPLY 

AND PAY REGISTRATION FEE OF $40 ARE ACCEPTED.

 

MEDIUMS: WATERCOLOR, PASTEL, OIL, PEN AND INK, PENCIL AND ACRYLIC

 

PRIZES: PRE-EVENT, ALL REGISTERED ARTISTS WILL BE MENTIONED BY NAME IN SOCIAL MEDIA 

AND NEWSLETTERS BY PACESETTER GALLERY AND MISSISSIPPI WILDLIFE, FISHERIES AND PARKS.

 

EVENT BEST OF SHOW, 2ND, 3RD, 4TH PLACE RIBBONS AND CERTIFICATES.

 

POST EVENT, BEST OF SHOW WINNER FEATURED IN ½ PAGE ARTICLE WITH PICTURES

WET PAINT SALE:COLLECTORS WILL BE ENCOURAGED TO ATTEND AND WATCH PAINTING AS 

THEY WALK THE PARK, EACH ARTIST WILL HAVE A PURCHASE TAG TO HANG AT THEIR STATION 

WHERE THEY LIST THEIR PRICE. COLLECTORS CAN TAKE THE TAG AT ANY POINT DURING THE 

EVENT AND CHECK OUT AT THE REGISTRATION TABLE OR PURCHASE DURING THE WET PAINT SALE. 

 

GALLERY COMMISSION IS 35% PLEASE PRICE ACCORDINGLY, RECOMMEND PRICING IN PENCIL IN

 CASE YOU CHOOSE TO UPDATE PRICE DURING EVENT. 

 

SCHEDULE ON APRIL 22ND: 

9:00 am-10:00 am Check in with blank canvas or paper for stamping at the registration table at 

Le Fleur’s Bluff, must be 11”X14” or larger. Bring a copy of ID showing Mississippi residency. 

Receive your wet paint sale tag and map for allowed painting locations throughout the park 

and your box lunch ticket.

 

10:00 am-2:00 pm Time to Paint! Box lunch, snacks, and waters provided to all artists at noon.

 

2:00 pm-2:30 pm Set up easel in registration area for judging by Bill Wilson.

 

3:00 pm-3:15 pm Winners announced by Bill Wilson

 

3:15 pm-4:30 pm Paintings available to the public for Wet Paint Sale through Pacesetter Gallery. 

Checks for all artworks sold will be written to the artists and mailed within two business days 

after the event. 

 

JUDGE BILL WILSON:Bill Wilson’s portrait work is found throughout the country including the 

Mississippi Supreme Court Building, law offices, banks, and homes throughout Mississippi. 

Wilson’s career spans decades and includes many styles and mediums, always leading back to his 

central purpose, to tell stories. You can see these stories unfold in his children’s book illustrations, 

magazine illustrations, animations, storyboarding, fine arts and caricatures.  The artist also 

shares his knowledge through a variety of workshops, for more information about classes contact

65% will be mailed to me within 2 days of the close of the event for any pieces purchased at the event.

heirs, executors, administrators, assigns, and successors in interest, hereby release and forever discharge Pacesetter Gallery, LLC 

and the State of Mississippi, Department of Wildlife, Fisheries, and Parks, its heirs, administrators, executors, and successors in interest,

 of and from any and every claim, demand, action or right of action, 

of whatever kind or nature, either in law or in equity, arising from or by reason of any bodily injury or personal injuries 

known or unknown, death, or property damage resulting or to result from any accident which may occur as a result 

of any participation in the                        LeFleur’s Bluff State Park En Plein Air Painting Competition          and while in 

or upon lands controlled by the Department (specifically__LeFleur’s Bluff State Park__), whether as the result of 

negligence or not.Releasors hereby assume full responsibility for the risk of bodily injury, death, or property 

damage that any participant or guest of the festival event may experience, while engaged in the event.                                

Artist painting, public viewing of the artists as they work, wet paint sale, etc., and upon lands controlled by the 

Department.Releasors further release all employees, officers, independent contractors, or other agents of the Releasee, professionals, 

guests, or other persons, from any claim whatsoever on account of first aid, treatment, or other service received by Releasors or any race 

participant/guest during his/her participation in   Artist painting, public viewing of the artists as they work, wet paint sale, etc.,   

 at __LeFleur’s Bluff State Park. Releasors expressly agree that this release, waiver, and indemnity agreement is 

intended to be as broad and inclusive as permitted by the laws of the State of Mississippi and that if any portion

 thereof is held invalid, it is agreed that the balance shall, notwithstanding, continue in full legal force and effect.

Releasors finally state, aver, and affirm that he/she/they have carefully read the foregoing release and know the contents

 thereof and have signed this release as his/her/their own free act, after first having been authorized so to do.

This release contains the entire agreement between the parties hereto and the terms of this release are contractual
